The Nubian people have inhabited the Nile Valley since prehistoric times, creating one of Africa's earliest complex societies. Their Kingdom of Kerma (2500-1500 BCE) was a powerful rival to ancient Egypt. Today, Nubian culture survives through its distinctive language (Nobiin), vibrant textile traditions, and the indomitable spirit of its people, despite the devastating displacement caused by the Aswan High Dam.
